Stepping up for my dad who currently struggles with PD and has done for decades, and for my uncle who fought an incredible fight but sadly PD took the best from him.

We're stepping up for my Dad (Pa) who was diagnosed with PD in 2014. Despite the huge challenges he faces, he continues to be an inspiration to us all. A special mention must go to my mum who demonstrates an endless amount of care and patience through the ups and downs. ❤

I’m stepping up for my dad who past away early this year after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s over 20 years ago

I’m stepping up to raise awareness around early onset Parkinson’s disease. My best friend and soul mate has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease about 3 years ago. It’s not what we had planned for our life but it’s also not a life sentence. We choose to find our silver lining and live now because tomorrow isn’t guaranteed for any of us.

One of my Exercise Physiology patients, Narelle She inspires me every day And if what I do this month helps her live a better quality of life, then it’s all worth it

I was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease in 2007 at the age of 39. I always said I’m young enough that maybe in my life time they will find a cure, so I’m stepping up in the hope that they do find a cure.. Exercise is such an important part of my day-to-day life.

I was diagnosed with PD over two years ago. Going pretty well, hoping to raise some funds for research to try and somehow find a cure for this disease.

I'm Stepping up for Parkinson's this May to raise money and show support for my darling mother Karen. A few years ago she was diagnosed and since I've learnt so much about the disease and what it entails and I want to try to make a difference for Mum as well as all those going through the same. Please help reach my goal and support those dealing with this thing day in day out.

My husband Chris has Parkinson’s and we belong to the Nepean Blue Mountains Parkinson’s group, a wonderful group of friends now so I’m doing it for the group too.

In Feb 23, I was diagnosed with PD & so this program is dear to my heart. I hopefully will gain the benefits of the exercise and also try to raise donations towards the PD cause & helping those affected by it.

Hi friends. As many of you know in 2018 I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease - a neurodegenerative disease with no known cure. Today I'm starting my Step Up for Parkinson's journey - a month-long challenge to raise funds for people living with Parkinson's. As exercise is vital in the battle against PD I've challenged myself to 15K steps per day for this month and to raise $1,000 for Parkinson’s NSW to continue its mission to enhance the quality of life for people living with PD. And, most importantly, I need your help to get there. Please consider making a donation, large or small, via my fundraising page. Many thanks as always.

Nadine Hughes
Hello! My name is Nadine, and I've committed to the Step Up For Parkinson's fitness challenge in honour of my darling Daddy, who was diagnosed in 2017. I was his sole carer for 3 years whilst Covid held us in a holding pattern, unable to access the 24/7 care he requires. Now that I'm not caring for him everyday, I always looking for additional ways I can demonstrate my love and support, so this was the perfect opportunity. I feel humbled by the support of my family and friends who are donating to this very worthy cause and hope to exceed my fund raising target during the coming weeks. On behalf of my Dad, my love and thanks to everyone involved in, or supporting this wonderful initiative. 💙

Parkinsons NSW is a charity close to my heart as my dad is living with Parkinson’s. He is doing amazingly and is living proof that we are slowly but surely winning the fight against this disease. Let’s find a cure!!! I have all the faith in the world that this will happen. With your kind donations, it makes us one step closer to finding it. Thanks a million x

I’m stepping up for my husband Russell who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s about a year ago and also my cousin who now also has dementia and is in care and he’s only 68.

I am stepping up for Parkinson’s for my Dad who was diagnosed at 35 and for my sister who has recently been diagnosed. I saw how debilitating it was for a dad so young to live with Parkinson’s. My mum was the strength in keeping dad active.Research into this disease is crucial in the treatment and hopefully a cure soon.

I was diagnosed in 2014. I'm doing pretty well after 9 years...I do a variety of exercise besides my medications & this keeps my mind & body going! I'm Stepping Up as Parkinson's NSW provide a wonderful service for we who have this condition with no cure & their families/carers.

I've learnt that Parkinson's is a neurodegenerative disorder resulting from my brain's inability to produce dopamine, thus affecting my mood and movement. When I was diagnosed, the information, specialist nurses, counselling, online resources, support groups and extensive services provided by Parkinson's NSW have and continue to be of great support. All the staff have made a huge difference to me and my family in assisting us to manage and continue to live well with this complex, debilitating and often invisible disease. They have connected me with a diverse, understanding, sharing and inspirational community. For this reason, during the month of May, I will be stepping up for Parkinson's. Your generous support will help me to reach my fundraising goal and allow Parkinson's NSW to continue its mission to enhance the quality of life for people living with Parkinson's, their families and carers.

Hello! I was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2019 - not something that I expected that's for sure! I am blessed to have a wonderful caring specialist who keeps me on the straight-and-narrow but also allows me to follow my own path. I'll be stepping up again in May to help raise more funds for everyone in our special community.

I am stepping up for all with this disease so as people in the future won’t have to suffer

I was diagnosed with early onset of Parkinson's disease at age 38. I'm now 45 & have found things considerably harder in the last 18 months particularly with my mental health. I am doing this challenge to make something positive from a pretty unfortunate situation. I want to show my kids that I won't let it beat me & for my Wife whose incredible strength is an inspiration. Never, ever give up!

I have Parkinson's, but I'm stepping up for all the wonderful people I've met on this journey who are fighting this disease.

I’m stepping up for Parkinson’s during May, due to my husband being diagnosed in 2016. Seeing the changes in the past 7 years has been hard and I won’t to make people aware of this disease that does not discriminate.
Barry Whiting
Hi everyone I am Stepping up for Parkinsons during May. Because I was diagnosed with Parkinsons 2 years ago this May. My goal is to raise awareness and encourage people to take the challenge. Also to get out and do this to raise funds for Parkinsons NSW. Probably the most important thing is to keep active and keep setting goals for yourself.

Gary Cowlishaw
I'm Stepping up for all the people living with Parkinson's . Last year I completed this 31 day challenge and you helped me raise over $3,800 - if you supported me a HUGE thank you. So my goal this year is to exceed that and fund more specialist supports. Since then I have learned of two family members with Parkinson's my Aunt Carol (Mums sister) and Mums cousin Peter. Parkinson's disease does not discriminate, it crops up uninvited when you least expect it. Helping others is one way of giving back and making a difference. 31 days of 6am yoga challenge.

Hi friends, As you know I have Parkinsons Disease . I am taking part in Step up for Parkinsons in May. I am hoping to raise $550. This year will be a little different for me as I will be in Bali for 3 week so I will getting some sight seeing in while doing my walk. Thank you everyone for supporting me last year. I would love your support again this year but understand that times are hard for some of you. Funds are used for research into this debilitating disease so every $ counts
This is a fantastic cause
